Nitrogen plants in Jaworzno were established in 1917 and in the 1930s the Spółka Akcyjna „Azot” (Jaworzno Joint Stock Company „Azot”) became part of the state concern of the Zjednoczone Fabryki Związków Azotowych (United Factories of Nitrogen Compounds) in Mościce and Chorzów.
